iSAMS introduces flexible academic report publishing

iSAMS has launched a new enhancement to report publishing that gives independent and international schools more control over how student reports are released to families. The update makes it easier to manage exceptions, delay publication where needed and ensure that reports reach the right people at the right time.

Addressing a common reporting challenge for schools worldwide

For many schools, report publication is not a simple all-at-once process. A report may be ready for most families, while a small number need to be held back because of outstanding approvals, safeguarding considerations, late changes or internal checks. Until now, managing those exceptions could create additional manual work and increase the risk of reports being shared too early or inconsistently.

The new flexible report publishing controls in iSAMS solve this by allowing schools to decide exactly which individual student reports are published to Parent and Student portals, and which remain withheld until the school is ready. This gives staff a more precise way to manage reporting workflows without disrupting the wider reporting cycle.

What this means for independent and international schools

By separating report generation from report publication, schools can prepare reports in advance and release them only when the appropriate checks have been completed. This reduces pressure on administrative teams, supports more accurate communication with families and helps schools maintain control during busy reporting periods.

  • Hold back individual reports where approvals, amendments or special circumstances apply
  • Publish reports for the wider cohort without waiting for every exception to be resolved
  • Reduce the likelihood of reports being shared prematurely or in error
  • Improve visibility for staff managing complex reporting processes across year groups or campuses

Designed for real-world school communication

The update also gives schools a clearer view of which reports have and have not yet been published, making it easier for teams to track progress and respond quickly where action is needed. Optional notifications can be used to let parents and students know when reports are available, supporting a smoother and more transparent experience for the whole school community.

Supporting schools with complex reporting needs across different settings

For independent and international schools, reporting often involves a wide range of workflows, stakeholders and expectations. Schools may be coordinating across different campuses, leadership teams or parent communities, while also managing varying review and sign-off processes. Flexible report publishing controls help schools adapt to those realities by giving them more local control within a consistent reporting framework.

This latest enhancement builds on iSAMS’ wider reporting capabilities, which are designed to help schools streamline administration, reduce manual effort and improve communication with families. By making report publication more flexible and accurate, schools can manage sensitive moments with greater confidence while delivering a better experience for staff, parents and students alike.
