Major iSAMS Central update: Unlocking comprehensive data insights for every school
iSAMS is excited to announce a powerful, two-pronged expansion of the data and reporting capabilities within iSAMS Central. This update is designed to empower both our existing iSAMS schools and those considering the iSAMS platform to drive strategic decisions using deep, integrated data insights across both student well-being and staff management.
iSAMS Central, our advanced reporting and analytics solution, leverages Microsoft Power BI technology to transform raw MIS / SIS data into actionable intelligence. These new features ensure schools can now gain a truly holistic and long-term view of their operational and pastoral health.
New historical data: Understanding pastoral trends
For independent schools focused on proactive student support, the ability to track behaviour over time is crucial. We’ve added new historical data sets that allow administrators and pastoral leaders to move beyond the current term and analyse multi-year trends, providing the necessary context to assess the true impact of pastoral strategies. By using the new ‘Exclusions by Term’ report, a school can identify if a disciplinary issue is genuinely worsening or if it is a recurring seasonal trend.
For example, if the report shows an 8% increase in exclusions every Spring Term for the last three years, the Pastoral Team now knows to investigate the specific stressors linked to that period (like mock exams or weather changes) and introduce targeted intervention programs before the term starts. Similarly, by reviewing Rewards and Conduct by Term, a school can correlate Year 10’s 15% decline in positive conduct entries with a new curriculum change, prompting an immediate review of teacher support and motivational pathways.
Enhanced HR and Compliance Reporting
The second major pillar of this update provides school leadership and administrative teams with unprecedented visibility into staff health, compliance, and operational efficiency. By connecting critical HR and compliance data with the rest of the MIS / SIS, Central removes data silos and simplifies auditing.
- Strategic workforce planning: Using the ‘Recruitment and Retention Trends’ report, the school can identify a persistent 3-year trend of high staff turnover in the Science Department. This quantifiable data allows the Senior Leadership Team to proactively address the underlying cause – be it workload, compensation, or support – before the next hiring cycle begins.
- Operational risk mitigation: The unique ‘Employees and Student Attendance’ report enables cross-functional analysis. If the report reveals a high volume of staff working days lost (WDL) in a certain key stage coinciding with a drop in student attendance in those same classes, the school can directly link staff well-being to student engagement, making it clear where intervention is most needed.
- Proactive compliance: The new ‘Compliance Incidents’ report helps in early risk detection. If the dashboard highlights five related ‘Maintenance Fault’ incidents recorded in the North Block over a short period, the Compliance Officer can quickly spot the pattern, elevate it from a series of minor faults to a significant Risk factor, and trigger a full audit, pre-empting a major health and safety issue or regulatory breach.
Leveraging the power of iSAMS Central
This significant update reaffirms iSAMS’ commitment to providing the independent education sector with cutting-edge tools to manage complex environments and ensure success across every aspect of school life.
For schools already utilising iSAMS Central, these new data sets and reports are ready to be activated. System Administrators simply need to grant permissions via Report Permissions from the Cog menu in Central, and assign access under Report Roles.
