iSAMS Awarded the ISO 27001 Accreditation

iSAMS, a leading cloud-based management information system (MIS) for schools, has been awarded BSI’s ISO 27001 (ISO/IEC 27001:2013) certification.

The company began working towards achieving the ISO 27001 accreditation (ISO/IEC 27001:2013) in 2018 in their recognition of the importance of maintaining the security of their clients’ information.

ISO 27001 (formally ISO/IEC 27001:2005) is a specification for an information security management system and, according to its documentation, was developed to “provide a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving an information security management system.”

For a company to be awarded ISO 27001 (ISO/IEC 27001:2013), they must be able to demonstrate that they have secure and robust measures in place, across the entire organisation, regarding each of the following processes: documentation, management responsibility, internal audits, continual improvement, and corrective and preventive action.

Even ahead of the introduction of the new GDPR regulations in 2018, we knew we wanted to do more to give our clients total peace of mind when it comes to handling their data.”said Jason Lloyd, Head of Service and Operations at iSAMS.

That’s why we’re so pleased that, after a year of hard work, we’ve reached this standard and can provide added value to the schools we work with when it comes to information security.

iSAMS seeks to improve the performance of schools, academies and MATs with a web-based management information system that empowers learning, supports frontline teaching and improves student outcomes, through a variety of bespoke modules, portals and apps.

As they continue to grow their community, both in the UK and abroad, Technical Director, Greg Pakes, says he hopes the ISO certification will enhance the awareness of data security for both clients and colleagues.

We place a very high importance on this accreditation, as it sets the bar in terms of a security software administration, said Greg.

As we grow as an organisation and expand our reach, it will represent our continual belief that the security of our data and information is of paramount importance – and our clients will continue to trust us to manage and look after their key information.
