Department: Marketing & Community
Location: Home based. There will be a requirement for occasional travel to the IRIS
head office for meetings and/or iSAMS conferences.
Reporting to: Marketing Manager
Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week, generally to be worked 9.00-5.00pm, flexibility may be available by agreement with the line manager and Head of Marketing

Job Purpose

As the Communications Advisor, you will write, develop, edit, and publish content and copy for a variety of digital platforms, including websites, blogs, videos, email marketing campaigns, advertising campaigns, social media posts, infographics, whitepapers, and more.

You will work closely with the Sales, Marketing and Community teams to implement content strategies that will increase brand awareness, drive competitive advantage and produce long term profitable growth across UK and international markets. You will develop engaging content to attract and retain customers.


Key Responsibilities   

  • Maintain an annual editorial calendar to plan, create, deliver and analyse content marketing campaigns in line with business objectives.
  • Creating, editing, and proofreading content across audiences including mailshots, newsletter articles, blog posts, white papers, guides, infographics and promotional leaflets.
  • Write content for new feature and product launches working closely with internal teams on distributing these news items and creating supporting guides.
  • Working with Marketing and Sales, identify customers’ needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics.
  • Support the creation and execution of inbound content marketing including creating a rich content/editorial calendar that attracts a qualified audience.
  • Write content optimised for search results using SEO best practice techniques. Conduct simple keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic.
  • Create and continuously update marketing and product related literature, liaising with internal stakeholders and external agencies as required.
  • Keep up-to-date with educational, market and competitor developments to influence content marketing campaigns and community engagement.
  • Use evaluation data to make suggestions and improvements on a continuous basis to assess the effectiveness of specific content campaigns or strategies.
  • Support the day-to-day activities of the Marketing and Community teams.
  • Keep our Writing Style Guide updated to ensure brand consistency.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to manage the content distribution for the community site ( and monitor user activity, actively responding and driving engagement.

Person Specification – Knowledge, Skills & Experience required

  • Excellent written and verbal communications – must be passionate about writing and editing.
  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within a B2B marketing environment.
  • Proven work experience in content marketing is a must.
  • Experience working in a SaaS (Software-as-a-service) is preferable.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Good proficiency in MS Office applications. Confident using Office CMS systems and CRM systems.
  • Experience of using Hubspot, Salesforce and WordPress is advantageous.
